Corrective Repair Experts

Improper Previous Repairs

We fix what others missed. Corrective repairs for poorly done roof work that keeps leaking.

The Problem with Bad Repairs

We've seen it countless times—a building owner calls us after another roofer "fixed" the leak, only for it to return after the next rain. Improper repairs are one of the most frustrating roof problems because you paid for a solution but still have the original problem.

Bad repairs often make things worse. They waste money, create additional damage, and can even void your roof warranty. When we arrive to fix a roof, we frequently find that previous "repairs" were actually the cause of new problems.

Common Mistakes

  • • Repairing wrong leak source
  • • Using incompatible materials
  • • Improper surface preparation
  • • Inadequate flashing work
  • • Poor seam welding
  • • Ignoring underlying damage

Warning Signs

  • • Leak returns after repair
  • • New leaks appear elsewhere
  • • Visible material mismatches
  • • Patchwork appearance
  • • Roof looks worse after "repair"
  • • Same area repaired multiple times

Common Types of Improper Repairs

These "quick fixes" often cause more problems than they solve

Band-Aid Patching

Small patches over visible damage without addressing the underlying problem. The leak finds another path through surrounding weak areas.

Wrong Materials

Using incompatible materials—like TPO patch on EPDM, or acyclic caulk on PVC—creates chemical reactions that degrade both materials.

Cold Welds

Heat-welded seams that weren't hot enough during installation. They look fine but never actually bonded, separating within months.

Surface Prep Failures

Repairs made over dirty, wet, or contaminated surfaces. The new material can't properly adhere and fails quickly.

Our Corrective Repair Process

1

Root Cause Investigation

We don't just look at the repair—we investigate to find the actual source of the leak. Water travels, so the visible problem is often not the real problem.

2

Previous Work Removal

We carefully remove incompatible or failed previous repairs to access the underlying damage. This allows us to properly assess and fix the real problem.

3

Proper Repairs

We make repairs using correct materials and proper techniques. Every repair is done to manufacturer specifications and industry best practices.

4

Warranty Protection

Our corrective repairs are backed by a workmanship warranty. We stand behind our work, unlike the quick fixes that failed before.
